“The scariest moment is just before you start.” – Stephen King
I am a writer living in Southwest Arkansas writing mysteries and historical fiction. I’m excited to announce that my debut novel, Murder by Any Other Name, recently earned an Honorable Mention award in Writer’s Digest’s 2015 Self-Published E-Book competition.
From the Judge’s Commentary: “You have a real gift for creating characters. The death scenes, which are notoriously difficult to do, were poignant and believable…realistic without being overdone.”
I don’t mean to suggest that Murder by Any Other Name is all about death. It isn’t. But a death at the beginning, where these tough issues must be dealt with right away, needed powerful scenes. I hope I’ve done justice to those who have experienced such losses.
Becca’s loss of her brother Richie, the person most in her corner for her whole life, is something she will struggle for years to recover from. But as Richie would be sure to tell her, there is life to be lived, and Becca must live it.
